Inside a Burnett County Civil Docket

Open a Burnett County civil docket. You get the case number, filing date, caption, parties, and status. From there the chronology may list service, an answer, motions, notices, hearings, orders, disposition, judgment, satisfaction, garnishment, or appeal. WCCA often names an event without the filed image. Treat the short public label as a pointer, not the document itself.

Case NumberYear, type, and sequence, such as 2026CV000042.
CaptionPlaintiff and defendant, or petitioner and respondent roles.
FilingsDated complaint, answer, motion, proof, notice, and order events.
SettingsCalendar activities with date, time, place, and court official where entered.
DispositionJudgment, dismissal, satisfaction, reopened activity, or appeal information.

Case status is just a workflow label. A file marked Closed could have ended by judgment, dismissal, agreement, or some other result, and the docket row alone will not tell you which.

Burnett County Civil Judgment Copies

A WCCA judgment event is not a certified judgment. For the signed paper, call the Clerk of Circuit Court at 715-349-2147, extension 2455. Have the case number, document title, and date. Burnett County's posted example prices a divorce judgment or paternity order at $1.25 per page plus $5 for certification. Ask about totals on other records. No universal search, exemplification, or docket-sheet fee is posted.

Staff may direct you to online WCCA or Paygov.us payment. The county's general contact form can route a question. But it is not a certified-copy order form and promises no processing time.

Civil Case Types on the Docket

Every one of these Burnett County civil court cases runs through Wisconsin's single circuit-court level. The clerk route and public scope differ, though. CV covers major claims and other civil actions. SC covers small claims: $10,000 or less, evictions, replevin, earnest-money disputes, and similar statutory matters. FA handles divorce, custody, support, maintenance, property division, and related family work.

  • General civil CV cases, including many claims, injunctions, name changes, and appeals.
  • Small-claims SC matters, including evictions and replevin.
  • Family FA cases and public post-judgment PA entries.
  • Formal PR and informal IN probate matters where public.
  • Lien, foreign-judgment, transcript-of-judgment, and related post-judgment records.

Burnett County has no separate county court at law. One Clerk of Circuit Court office holds the civil, family, small-claims, and related divisions.

Burnett County Civil Eviction Display

Small claims and evictions stay Burnett County Circuit Court files even after the online row disappears. WCCA's display rule changed on July 1, 2025. Per its FAQ, cases show for two years when no money judgment exists, ten years after a writ of restitution without a money judgment, and twenty years when a money judgment was entered.

Missing online result: A display period is not the same as record retention. Use the case number and ask the clerk whether the retained Burnett County civil file remains available.

A dismissed small claim can drop off even sooner. When a web row goes missing, that is not proof no case was filed. The clerk still holds the file, so ask there.

Burnett County Civil Docket Settings

A notice, a calendar entry, and a signed order can sit on a Burnett County civil docket as three separate rows. WCCA may list a date, time, place, activity, court official, caption, and attorney information for each setting. A reset or continuance just moves work inside the same case. It opens nothing new and erases nothing old.

For the newest public setting, use the WCCA Court Official Calendar, then call Burnett County Circuit Court at 715-349-2149 when attendance or timing must be confirmed. The filed notice or order controls details a short calendar row may leave out. More on the date fields is in Burnett County court dates.

Burnett County Civil Probate and Family Routes

Probate and family files take extra care in Burnett County. The public summary shows less than the full record. The Register in Probate keeps these cases at 7410 County Road K #110. Reach the office at 715-349-2177 or extension 2451. That office handles probate, guardianship, protective placement, civil commitment, adoption, and juvenile-related files. Some of those files are confidential. They will never show up on WCCA.

Divorce events are often public. Protected child information and pre-judgment paternity details may stay hidden, though. Bring the exact FA, PA, PR, or IN number. Ask what portion you may inspect. A public probate docket summary might list a case number, the representative, a claims deadline, or claim activity. That summary does not open the whole estate file.

Burnett County Civil Docket Access Rules

Wisconsin leans toward open records. Court rules and orders still guard certain details, though. Wis. Stat. § 19.35 governs how you inspect and copy accessible records, and Wis. Stat. § 801.19 shields account, Social Security, driver-license, passport, and similar numbers in circuit filings.

Access note: Guardianship, protective-placement, civil-commitment, adoption, CHIPS, termination-of-parental-rights, and pre-judgment paternity information can be confidential. Ask for the public or redacted part rather than assuming the full Burnett County civil file is open.

Sealing is a judicial call. A judge decides a motion to seal under Wis. Stat. § 801.21, and the clerk then applies the restriction. Keep in mind that WCCA offers free public case information; it is not the official judgment and lien docket, and it does not store public document images.

Burnett County Civil Post-Judgment Events

A Closed status is not the end of the story. Satisfaction, garnishment, a writ, an abstract or transcript of judgment, modification, enforcement, reopening, or appeal can each add later Burnett County civil docket entries. Read the chronology all the way to its newest date. Then compare any satisfaction entry. It should match the judgment it concerns.

Judgment entered
The court recorded a judgment; request the signed document for its exact terms.
Satisfaction
A later entry tied to a judgment, not a deletion of the case history.
Reopened
The case returned to active processing after a closed status.
Remanded
An appellate or reviewing court sent further work back to circuit court.

Appeals from Burnett County Circuit Court go to Wisconsin Court of Appeals District III. When searching the appellate docket, keep the original circuit number handy.

The Burnett County case lookup helps isolate that circuit number.

Note: WCCA updates hourly, but its public event list and the clerk's filed case record are not the same product.
